Canada is one of the world’s most stable and developed economies, exporting around $458.7 billion in 2013 and importing $471 billion. This means there is great potential for any business looking to trade internationally.
Canada is also the world’s second largest country by surface area, though it’s sparsely populated, with 75% of all Canadians living near the U.S. border. Wherever in Canada you need to get a parcel to, though—and whether you’re sending business goods or personal correspondence—we have a delivery service for you.
Exporting to Canada
The UK is Canada’s second biggest trading partner, beaten only by the USA. Transglobal Express facilitates thousands of deliveries to Canada every year, from gifts to relatives (possibly one of the 674,000 British expats currently living in Canada) to commercial shipments.
Our coverage of Canada includes all of the major cities, including Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec and Calgary. It is also possible to send to some of the more remote locations in Canada’s northern territories.
Sending a parcel to Canada costs as little as £18.42 for a 1kg parcel, £26.45 for 5kg, £36.43 for 10kg, and £54.45 for 20kg. For shipments weighing over 100kg, we offer air freight services from £179.63 to Vancouver or from £145.44 to Toronto.
Sending documents to Canada
Send documents to Canada weighing up to 0.5kg with our UPS Envelope service, priced at £11.95. As long as it fits into a UPS branded envelope, you’re good to go.
This service is suitable for business documents or personal correspondence. Just select “document” from the menu when requesting your quote.
Customs information for Canada
Since Canada is not a member of the European Union, all shipments from the UK to Canada require customs clearance. This means that all parcels to Canada must be accompanied by a Customs Invoice, which details the contents and value of your consignment.
We will produce this for you automatically—just be sure to include detailed, accurate descriptions of your goods during the booking process. Businesses with their own Customs Invoice templates may use those if preferred.
As with any country, there are customs rules and regulations that are specific to Canada—for instance, personal effects must surely be cleared at the customs office by the receiver in person. There may also be customs duties and taxes imposed on certain kinds of goods, which will not be included in your quote.
You can view carrier-specific restrictions for booking a courier to Canada, or visit the website of the Canada Border Services Agency for more information. Please also view our own list of restricted and prohibited items.
Transit times to Canada
Express services to Canada’s major cities generally take 2 days, while economy options can take around 4 days. Deliveries to remote areas—particularly those in the northern territories—will require additional time.
For a better idea of transit times, please use our carrier-specific transit time calculators. Enter your collection and destination postcodes for a more accurate estimate.
