UPS partners with TerraCycle to trial reusable packaging

UPS has joined recycling company TerraCycle and a coalition of consumer product companies to trial a new system of reusable packaging.

Through the Loop system, companies deliver products in customised, durable packaging that can then be collected, cleaned and reused—with delivery and pickup managed by UPS.

A “shipping tote” is used to eliminate the need for single-use boxes. The packaging is made from fully recyclable materials including alloys, glass and engineered plastics. It’s designed to handle dry goods, liquids and personal care products, while being durable enough to resist breaking down or showing fatigue.
