UPS has recently announced it has opened its Trans Pacific Hub situated at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. The opening sees the hub being relocated at the airport’s Air Cargo Terminal Logistics Warehouse, with the capacity of approximately 82,000 square feet – a 40% increase in size from the previous location.

Managing Director of UPS Taiwan, Anita Li, has said: “The new hub is expected to increase export processing capacity by more than 40%, while also doubling the processing capacity of import handling.” Li also added: “With export growth looking strong, UPS remains committed to supporting our customers across all sectors and we continue to invest in our capabilities and infrastructure to enable these customers to trade in a global market.”

The newly opened, relocated hub is part of UPS’s most recent proposal to build an integrated network via air across Asia with the intent of connecting Taiwan itself to major markets, such as within Asia, Europe and the US. The hub is expected to operate 28 weekly cargo flights, with customers being able to expect speedy transit times of 1-2 days to major cities in the US and Europe.

President of UPS North Asia District, K K Leung, has said: “High-tech manufacturing is the largest vertical segment in Taiwan and these companies are facing increasing global competition.” Leung also added: “To take advantage of growth opportunities within the region and beyond, these companies need agile supply chains and a strong logistics partner. UPS’s latest investment in our Taiwan hub is a testament to our continued support of Taiwanese businesses as they compete in a global marketplace.”
