FedEx is building a new 800,000 square foot ground distribution hub in Cypress, Texas. Scheduled to open in August 2017, it will be the largest ground facility in Texas and one of the largest in the entire FedEx network.

The hub will employ over 400 people, many of them new hires from the Greater Houston area. The region was picked for its strong labour market.

The new hub will initially produce roughly 22,500 packages an hour, speeding up over the next five years to 75,000 an hour, which would make it FedEx’s fastest hub.

Vince Hamilton, vice president for FedEx’s Mid-America region, foresees a time when the hub will be able to produce one million packages daily.
