The de minimis limit for New Zealand (i.e. the value of goods that can be imported duty free) is NZ$400.
From December 1st 2019, overseas businesses that sell low-value goods to consumers in New Zealand (up to NZ $1,000) may need to register for, collect and return Goods and Services Tax (GST). Download more information (PDF format).
When sending personal effects to New Zealand, the owner of the goods must complete a Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration (right click, Save As to download), plus provide a copy of their passport and relevant visa to customs. Clearance delays can occur.
